Carbon Surcharge

As of April 1st, 2024, the Canadian Federal government will increase the carbon tax by an additional $15 per ton where we will see it go from $65/ton to $80/ton. This equates to an increase of $0.17/L for gas and $0.15/L for natural gas. This is in part of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act introduced in 2018.

Information and details on the Federal benchmark for carbon pollution pricing can be found on Canada’s Carbon Pollution Pricing 2023 – 2030. The upsurge in the carbon tax is affecting us all, leading to increased operating costs across our supply chain and higher utility expenses. To offset the expenses associated with the federal government’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, effective September 1st, 2024, we will increase our carbon surcharge to 2.5% for all shipments handled in our network.

This surcharge will be clearly listed on your invoice as a single line item labeled Carbon Surcharge, reflecting the increase.
